Accomplishments of the Social Interactions, Identity and Well-Being Program
- CIFAR SIIWB program members have quantified much information about workplace happiness. Some of the results of note were that increased trust in your employer is worth a 36 percent pay raise, a greater variety of projects is worth a 21 percent pay hike, having a position that requires skill worth 19 percent more pay and having enough time to finish your work is worth 11 percent more pay.
- Researchers in the SIIWB program have found that aboriginal communities in Western Canada with self-government have a significantly lower suicide rate than those that do not.
- A related study looked at identity loss in seniors that accompanies the transition from their homes to long-term care facilities. CIFAR researchers have found that those seniors that remain in social groups and clubs fare better than their counterparts.
