Welcome to the website of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research
CIFAR brings together leading researchers from across Canada and around the world to work collaboratively on complex advanced research projects. Currently more than 350 researchers are affiliated with CIFAR’s 12 research programs. Its membership includes Nobel Laureates, Guggenheim Fellows, Royal Society of Canada members, and many others working at the tops of their fields. About one third of its researchers are based in countries other than Canada.
CIFAR is a not-for-profit organization. It relies on both public and private funds to operate its programs. By supporting research at the very highest levels of excellence, CIFAR helps ensure that Canada remains the intellectual home for many of the world's greatest researchers.
The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research incubates ideas that revolutionize the international research community and change the lives of people all over the world.
